Delivering high performance, Daikin’s residential units are family and allergy friendly. The range features easily programmable controllers and Wi-Fi control to reduce accidental wastage. Certain units also include a lock system and temperature limits. Daikin’s range has been recognised by the Sensitive Choice program for their air filtration and purification technology.

Samsung offer a wide array of options to cover different kinds of environments and spaces. Equipped with a Human Sensor that detects motion, Samsung units can switch to power saving mode after 20 minutes of no movement, returning to normal operation when movement is detected again. This means power is not being wasted if you leave a room.

Split Systems

Daikin has the larger range of split systems with 8 main units on offer, including the US7 Series; Zena Series; Cora Series; Alira Series; Daikin Lite Series; Nexura Series and Floor Standing Series. Energy efficient, with controller options offering high-tech features this range covers all types of small to larger homes, delivering comfort in the varied Australian climates.

Samsung’s split system range, the stylish Boracay Series, is easy to operate; they can also be run via an app. Conveniently an auto clean function runs the fan on low speed for a period of time when the unit is turned off, keeping the indoor unit dry to minimise bacteria growth.

Samsung’s split systems feature a ‘Triangle’ design that facilitates huge air intake and wide air output. These systems are quiet and unobtrusive.

Both brands were rated closely at 4.5 out of 5 for Daikin and 4 out of 5 for Samsung. Each brand offers reliable and energy efficient units. Samsung does offer less choice but their units are stylish and quiet

Ducted Systems

Daikin’s ducted system range includes 4 main selections: Premium Inverter Ducted Series; Inverter Ducted Series; Slim-Line Ducted Series; Bulkhead Ducted System Series. This series is compact and efficient, with Daikin’s new inverter series designed to discretely fit into tight roof spaces. The controller, return air and discharge grilles will be the only parts visible inside a home.

Samsung ducted systems are engineered to be unobtrusive, with conditioned air distributed through ducts hidden in the roof space. They have a range of capacities to cover both small and larger houses. This series has Wi-Fi control so your Samsung ducted series can be programmed, monitored and adjusted remotely with precision. The range includes the units; S - 1 and 3 phase - indoor, S 1 phase – outdoor, S 3 phase - indoor, S – 3 Phase - outdoor 2, S - 3 phase – outdoor.

Overall, we rated Daikin's range at 3.5 out of 5 and Samsung’s range at 4 out of 5, Samsung’s range can cover up to 20.0kW with Daikin reaching a higher 24.0kW.

Hydronic Heating Systems

The Altherma Bi-Bloc Hydronic Heating Series, Daikin’s Hydronic system, not only delivers heating and cooling but it also heats water for the kitchen, laundry, showers and baths. Ideal for houses with limited outside space, the hydrobox can be positioned inside and a gas system isn’t required. This system is energy efficient, cutting energy costs. Overall, our team rated Daikin's range at 3.5 out of 5.

Multi Systems

Daikin and Samsung offer similar types of outdoor centralised multi-system units. One unit can control a number of different inside air conditioners, making them ideal for apartment buildings in which outdoor space is at a minimum.

The Samsung single multi outdoor unit, the FJM, utilises available space well, connecting to up to 5 indoor units. These outdoor units deliver fast, even temperature control, with an impressive 360-degree airflow that minimises hot spots and cold spots. The series enables easy and low-cost installation.

Both Samsung and Daikin provide a wide range of choice in terms of compatible units and space saving solutions. Daikin’s version of multi-system comes under the umbrella of their VRV units. Overall, we rated both Samsung and Daikin’s ranges at 4 out of 5.

Air Purifiers

Daikin’s portable air purifiers offer a turbo mode for quickly removing pollutants from rooms of up to 46m². This is ideal in situations such as when bushfire pollution or pollen is at high levels, triggering allergies and asthma. Daikin’s purifiers use a 6-layer filtration system to reduce odours and purify the air.

Daikin’s air purifying units are designed to work effectively in both small and large spaces, plus they have the added advantage of being portable. Overall we rated Daikin’s Air Purifier Series at 4.5 out of 5

Smart Control Solutions

Daikin offer monitoring via their smart phone app so you can check usage or control the system on and off remotely, which is handy if you’ve left the air conditioner on in an unpopulated space. This app allows users to program air conditioning around your lifestyle, so you can come home to a comfortable environment.

Daikin’s controls may not yet offer voice control but they do provide advanced features and an easy to read interface that was rated at 3.5 out of 5.

Samsung’s focus their commercial air conditioning & ventilation design on energy efficiency, performance and reliability. Daikin’s range offers flexible, reliable and energy-efficient systems. These can be adjusted to both large and smaller projects. Both companies are able to create solutions for different spaces to provide comfort for their clients.

Split Systems

Daikin offers a range of 8 split system options for projects such as commercial kitchens and retail outlets. Their range includes; Super Multi NX (R32); L-Series; DTXF-T Series; Cora Series; Daikin Lite; Floor Standing Series; Nexura Series (Floor Standing) and US7 Series. These can cover from one room to a larger area in a commercial building. They offer the flexibility of wall mounted or floor standing options, depending on which is most appropriate.

Ducted Systems

Daikin’s commercial ducted units are part of their Variable Refrigerant Volume (VRV) systems, as listed below. They are appropriate for a wide range of spaces have a variety of capacities up to 16.0 kW.

Samsung’s commercial ducted systems range from 5.2kW to 20.0kW in capacity, and can thereby be used for a multitude of projects. Ducted units are hidden in the roof space, making them relatively discrete. Their range covers the units; S - 1 and 3 phase - indoor, S 1 phase – outdoor, S 3 phase - indoor, S – 3 Phase - outdoor 2, S - 3 phase – outdoor. Samsung’s range reduces drafts / hot spots and maximise airflow to increase comfort.

Of the two, Daikin provides the slightly cheaper option. Overall, we rated both Daikin’s VRV system and Samsung’s range at 4 out of 5.

VRV Systems

Daikin’s VRV systems are designed to offer climate management solutions in a commercial environment, designed to work in tandem with indoor units on large sites. Their applications include shopping malls and office blocks. These units are built to cover larger spaces, handling higher capacities. They are designed to deliver comfort with energy efficiency, and control. There are 6 types of unit in all, Gas Heat Pump Outdoor Unit, VRV Air Handling Unit Series, VRV H Heat Pump, VRV III-Q Outdoor Unit, VRV IV Water Cooling Outdoor Unit and VRV IV-S.

Overall our review team rated Daikin's range at 4 out of 5.

VRV Indoor Units

Daikin’s VRV Indoor Units offer 17 options that work in a commercial space, including the ability to have 64 units connected to a single system. The units can be part of a tailored solution for new builds or refurbishments and appropriate for spaces requiring very controlled climates; for example in libraries and museums.

Controllers

Daikin offers 3 kinds of centralised controllers for large systems, including; iTouch Manager Centralised Controller, Individual control systems and BACNet / LonWorks Interface. These systems can be programmed to control zone behaviour, weekly schedules, or for holiday periods when spaces may be vacant, energy consumption and wear and tear. Daikin offers interfaces for large systems that have many units connected all at once as well as Wi-Fi controls.

Applied Solutions

Daikin’s chillers come in a flexible range to meet differing requirements. The Air Cooled and Water Cooled Chillers are engineered to deliver precise control of cooling and climate management.

These chillers are low cost solutions, with a variety of sizes and ways to control an indoor environment. Overall, our review team rated Daikin's range at 3.5 out of 5.

Light Commercial Applications

Daikin’s Light Commercial range is designed for smaller commercial spaces such as shops, restaurants and small offices. There are 4 types within the range including Ceiling Suspended Sky Air, Fully Flat Cassette SkyAir, Round Flow Cassette SkyAir and Wall Mounted SkyAir. These units deliver wide-angle and long air throw to ensure all parts of the room are reached. They feature energy saving functions and units are designed to optimise space for commercial operations.

Packaged Solutions

Daikin’s Rooftop Packaged systems feature a neat appearance and powder coated drain pan for corrosion resistance. They are designed for easy installation and can be expanded as necessary for larger buildings such as apartment or office buildings.

These packaged systems cover a capacity from 16.2kW to a massive 84.2kW and received a rating of 4 out of 5 from our review team.
