Reviews

Efficient and ideal for large sized rooms (40 sq meters)

To my delight, the unit has proved to be energy efficient and effective in cooling and heating my open plan kitchen and dining area. I am thrilled with the significantly reduced energy costs compared to my central air conditioning with add-on heating, as I’m able to compare power consumption information in real time via my Fronius Smart Meter (solar panel system accessory).

Very efficient heating, haven't used to cool yet

I installed the 3.5 kW Daikin US7 as a combined heater and cooler for my new living areas, because of its environmental credentials. I’ve only used it over the winter, so can only comment on its heating efficiency so far, but have found it to be extremely rapid to heat up a room, reasonably quiet in its operation, and definitely cheaper to run than my old ducted gas system. I like the “comfort” setting, so that for heating, the vents point downwards and don’t create too much of a breeze, and when cooling, they oscillate, to help cool further. I had hoped that it might be powerful enough to heat not only the room it’s installed in, but also the adjoining rooms, that are connected through a double archway, but unfortunately this hasn’t been the case. This might be because there’s not enough airflow through this space, even when I use the boost mode, but this is the only reason I’ve why I’ve rated it four rather than five stars.
