Owned by Rinnai Japan Corporation, Rinnai Australia have operated locally for over 45 years and aim to deliver value based products, that are environmentally sustainable. Rinnai Australia are generally known for their hot water solutions, but also offer a range of residential and commercial air conditioning with intelligent and innovative features. Fujitsu’s residential range offers a variety of energy efficient solutions to deliver comfort to diverse environments and spaces. This range features cost-effective split systems and ducted systems to deliver individually zoned comfort within your home.

Like most brands Rinnai’s residential range covers split, multi and ducted systems. Unusually however, they also offer geothermal-based air conditioning in the Geoflo range. Like a ducted system this range is designed to fit most environments, but they deliver comfort by harnessing the Earth’s heat. Rinnai also offer an evaporative system, portable air conditioners and panel heating choices. Many of Rinnai’s units feature wi-fi, so you can operate your system from anywhere in the world with a wi-fi connection.

Split Systems

Fujitsu’s split system range includes 4 types of unit; Classic Series, Designer Series, Lifestyle Series (Cooling only) and Lifestyle Series (Heating and Cooling). These units are designed for efficiency, featuring a number of energy efficient solutions. Fujitsu’s units suit spaces with differing capacity requirements. They are allergy friendly, using static electricity to remove pollutants from the air.

Rinnai offer 6 split systems designed for Australian environmental extremes. These include J Series, C Series, D Series, Q Series, G Series and Inverter Cassette. These are designed to continue operating in ambient temperatures as low as -15°C and as high as 52°C, making them ideal for varying Australian climates. Most of Rinnai’s split system air conditioners include high performing inverter technology, 3D air distribution and the delivery of long distance air supply.

Fujitsu’s ranges were rated at 4 out of 5 by our reviewers, with Rinnai receiving 3 out of 5. These scores indicate that both brands offer decent options.

Ducted Systems

Available in high and low capacities, Fujitsu’s Cassette Range units offer precise consumption controls without compromising on comfort. These cassettes are designed to deliver even temperature distribution and wide airflow. A removable grille and louvres that can be wiped down make cleaning easy.

Rinnai offers a diverse ducted selection including the following; Reverse cycle, 20 and 24 kW reverse cycle and Geoflo. Powered by the heat of the Earth, the Geoflo system is both energy and cost efficient. Rinnai’s full ducted range covers a span of 7.1 to 24 kW, providing full home coverage.

Ducted units fit under the ceiling with only the grille showing, blending in with most décor. For the above options our review team rated Fujitsu’s and Rinnai’s ranges at 3.5 out of 5.

Multi-Systems

Fujitsu’s Inverter Multi and Multi System Series, were rated 4 out 5 by our review team and can be matched to a range of indoor units. Fujitsu’s multi systems offer energy saving settings, cutting down on electricity consumption, helping to curb utility bills.

Rated 3.5 out of 5, Rinnai’s range includes Multi Slim Ducted and Multi Wall mounted units up to 8.0 kW. They remove allergens and pollutants using a Super Fine Filter to keep fine particles out of the home. Wi-Fi Control comes as standard with these units, allowing systems to be controlled from anywhere with a wi-fi connection.

Evaporative Cooling

Up to 75% more efficient to run when compared to Ducted Refrigerated Air Conditioning, the Evap Cooling series is only available in South Australia and Western Australia, to match their conditions. These units are robust, coming in a selection of colours to match your home’s roof and protected during winter by a motorised seal that prevents cold drafts from entering the home.

Rated 3.5 out of 5 for this range, Rinnai’s units have a pre-wet cycle that allows for fresh water to enter the cooler and begin soaking cooling pads before the fan starts, delivering comfort quickly.

Controllers

Rinnai’s user friendly controller range features The Networker, Rinnai Touch™ and Rinnai Touch Wi-Fi. These offer multiple applications, and work on gas ducted heaters, evaporative and add-on cooling while utilising your home Wi-Fi network. These were rated 3 out of 5 by our review team.

Ceiling/Floor Console Range

Quiet and energy efficient, Fujitsu’s Ceiling/Floor Console Range is designed to fit homes that may not have wall space for multi and split systems. Floor consoles are easily accessible and thereby cut down on maintenance for technicians. Fujitsu’s range covers capacities of 2.6kW to 14.0 kW, to match diverse Australian weather patterns.

These Consoles are slim and lightweight, making them easy to install and handle. Our review team rated Fujitsu’s Ceiling/Floor Console Range 4 out of 5.

Portable AC

Rinnai’s Cooling only portable AC units save on installation and can be moved from room to room, or house to house. An exhaust duct comes standard with the units, easily attaching to a window without needing a technician.

While the initial outlay for these units is not cheap, utility consumption can be reduced by utilising an inbuilt timer. The washable filter, automatic condensation removal and water alarm make maintenance straightforward, adding to cost savings. For their simplicity and versatile applications our review team rated Rinnai’s portable air conditioners 3.5 out of 5.

Panel Heaters

Rinnai’s Panel Heater range can be moved from room to room or attached to the wall with a wall-mounting kit that comes included. They are relatively cheap with 3 different models to fit the size of the space being warmed. These include the 1000W Panel Heater, 1500W Panel Heater and 2200W Panel Heater.

As they run via an electric element operation with no fan, these units have the advantage of operating silently, making them ideal for quiet times like working from home. Our review team rated this range 4 out of 5 for their effectiveness.

Fujitsu offers a support network to help clients select the right combination of commercial systems to meet their needs, space and budget. Fujitsu has developed products that can be used in diverse commercial environments including hotels, apartment blocks, schools and shopping centres. Rinnai’s commercial range by comparison is somewhat limited; they offer only light commercial air solutions. However these are designed to meet the demands of the, at times, extreme Australian environment. Their split system and ducted ranges can be used in smaller to medium spaces, depending on your requirements. Rinnai’s portable heaters and coolers in the residential range could also be adapted in spaces requiring nearby air conditioning.

Air Stage VRF Systems

Fujitsu’s high capacity Air Stage VRF Systems include; the J-III Series, J-IIS Series, V-II Series and VR-II Series ranges. Fujitsu have been developing these energy efficient systems, for more than 35 years, utilising state of the art technology.

They aim to deliver products that provide the most comfortable environment possible. Fujitsu’s Air Stage VRF Systems range covers a diverse range of applications, receiving a rating of 4 out of 5 from our review team.

Split Systems

Fujitsu’s commercial split system range offers the same choice as their residential range, incorporating the Classic Series, Designer Series, Lifestyle Series (Cooling only) and Lifestyle Series (Heating and Cooling). Fujitsu’s commercial split system units limit maximum energy usage of the air conditioner to save on energy consumption. They can be used for both small and larger spaces, from a small office to a boardroom. Their filters feature catechin, which is highly effective against bacteria growth, thus making the output air healthier.

Rinnai’s split system range covers capacities of up to 13.4 kW. This includes; the J Series, C Series, D Series, Q Series, G Series and Inverter Cassette. These are self-cleaning and built to work through ambient temperatures as low as -15°C and as high as 52°C, meeting the demands of extreme conditions. A Fin-Shaped Louver optimising 3D air distribution, which improves the delivery of long distance air supply, delivering comfort to all corners of the room. Air quality can be enhanced via a high density filter designed to eliminate and absorb unwanted contaminants.

Fujitsu’s catechin filters are remarkable in providing both clean air and comfort. Overall, the review team rated Fujitsu's range at 4 out of 5, with Rinnai’s range receiving a 3 out of 5.

Cassette Systems

Fujitsu’s offer a discrete Cassette Range with a weekly timer, sleep timer and economy mode to maintain control of energy consumption, without the loss of comfort. These cassettes are easy to clean, with a removable grille and louvres that can be wiped down without needing a technician.

Overall, Fujitsu’s commercial cassette range was rated 4 out of 5.

Ducted Systems

Rinnai offers a diverse ducted selection including; the Reverse cycle, 20- and 24-kW reverse cycle and Geoflo. If you are looking to focus on an environmentally friendly solution, the Geoflo system is powered by the heat of the Earth, making it both energy and cost efficient.

Rinnai’s full light commercial ducted range covers a span of 7.1 to 24 kW, providing options for small to medium spaces. Behaviours can be programmed into the system easily so that very little interaction is needed by staff members. These systems were rated 3.5 out of 5 by our reviewers.

Multi Systems

Multi systems are those that can be connected to a compact outdoor unit, with Fujitsu’s running up to six indoor units simultaneously. Their Inverter Multi and Multi System Series can be combined to suit almost any need in commercial spaces. With 14 models ranging in capacity from 2.3kW to 6.8kW, Fujitsu’s multi systems were rated 4 out of 5.

Ceiling/Floor Console Range

Fujitsu’s Ceiling/floor console range can be installed on the floor or under the ceiling, with the floor consoles providing easy access for the user.
