I recently had a Samsung AC160 ducted AC installed. It was replacing a 12-year-old carrier system that had run out of gas, it has now been 4 weeks and I have been impressed on how quiet the system is and how efficient it runs.
Also included in the installation was an Airtouch3 controller.
The AC when running cools the house down as expected – but I have been very impressed with how efficient the system is. While it’s a 16Kw AC – the unit has a digital inverter which allows it to vary the load when needed and thus use less electricity than a normal AC.
In my case – the AC when is turned on to cool the house – it cycles from using around 2.2Kw of power down to a idle using only 700w of electricity.
The quoted efficiency figure for this system EER is 3.4 – what ever that means…
I have solar – but I can already see my daily power bill being reduced by a large amount (50-80%) when compared with the old 14Kw carrier system that used to draw down 4 – 6.5kw of electricity.
cools well and heats well, however can take a while to come on at first and sometimes will stay on when the set point temperature has been reached. Wi-Fi app can disconnect also.
