The Covid-19 pandemic has impacted on how we interact with one another. Installers across the country are instituting practices to protect the health of customers and technicians. These practices aim to reduce the chances of viral transmission as much as possible.
We checked in with our top-rated installers for each state and their practices are listed as below. We found that the top installers are taking steps to act compatibly with guidance from the federal and state (eg NSW and Victoria) governments.
These are some of the best-practice safety practices we found around Australia:
- Installers are asking their technicians to stay home in they are unwell and providing access to flu shots and temperature checks to staff
- Before attending the premises, many installers are asking if anyone in the household has Covid-19 symptoms or has had contact with someone with Covid-19 symptoms. Installers will delay a job if there is a risk to their technicians.
- Installers are trying to keep their distance – at least 1.5m – during an on-site visit and are avoiding physical contact such as shaking hands
- Installers are bringing alcohol-based hand sanitizer or washing hands upon arrival and before leaving
- Installers are wiping down and disinfecting their equipment before and after each job
- Some installers are using PPE equipment like gloves and masks
- Many installers are offering cashless payment, such as direct debit or credit card
- Common sense hygiene practices are being complied with, such as covering nose and mouth when coughing or sneezing
- Installers are asking customers to wait outside or in another room while the work is completed. Conversations will then take place on a balcony, in the garden or outside
- Installers are having conversations with customers before an on-site visit by phone and email, to ensure the time spent at the property is minimized and work is completed as quickly as possible
Remember to be patient with installers during Covid-19. This is a challenging time for everyone, and health and safety is a top priority.
