Staff at Geelong-based air conditioning installation companies, The Heat Shop and Climatic, each have over 25 years of industry experience and knowledge. Our review team have found The Heat Shop to be the leading air conditioning installation company in the Geelong area, scoring 4.5 out of 5 overall to Climatic’s 3.5.
Climatic equal The Heat Shop on price and warranty. Climatic specialises in supplying high quality support and air conditioning systems to their customers, dealing only with Mitsubishi Electric air conditioning products. They can, however, repair, maintain and service most types of air conditioning systems and brands.
Both companies offer affordable and cost effective prices on their products. Of the two, only Climatic offers Saturday service availability (by appointment). Both companies would make a great choice for customers in the Geelong area. There, are, of course areas in which their service differs.
Our Heat Shop and Climatic air conditioning reviews rated both these companies with a perfect score of 5 out of 5 stars on pricing, indicating great value and reasonable pricing from the start of the quote process. Due to this, however, they may not be as flexible when offering special deals.
The Heat Shop can consider volume discounts if working on larger jobs. On like for like quotes they are open to price matching, which can be further discussed with their quotation team. These discounts would be considered on a case-by-case basis.
Climatic were found to offer affordable and competitive prices on the products and services they provide. They appear to have an honest pricing style. However; the Climatic team are not flexible in their pricing and do not offer special deals. For installation they exclusively use and recommend Mitsubishi Electric, a high quality brand.
Both Climatic and The Heat Shop provide customers with free on-site quotes. The Heat Shop can also provide a free fully digitalised quote that lists all information relevant to the job if they are provided with pictures and floor plans.
Climatic’s staff suggest competitor quotes that work out cheaper may do so due to compromised quality of labour or services, which are not comparable with their own. They further advise customers to be wary of other up-front discounts that may be a marketing ploy rather than a genuine pricing discount. This indicates that they care about the quality of service that their customers are given.
While our Climatic review rated them just out of our top 5 in both the phone and email categories of customer service, Climatic’s team were found to be helpful and polite with inquiries. Their responses were clear and knowledgeable.
Through multiple exchanges via email and phone The Heat Shop review team received high levels of customer service.
In terms of customer service by phone and email, Climatic received scores of 7 out of 10 in both criteria while The Heat Shop received 8 out of 10 for each of theirs. What gave The Heat Shop that extra point was their response time. They responded to an initial request within 24-48 hours, turning the quote around in the same amount of time, which gained them a ‘fast’ response rating. Climatic’s response time was more than double this and rated with in a ‘medium’ bracket, with their team taking 2-4 days to both acknowledge the initial request and then to send their quote. This may indicate the reason for the overall difference in customer service scores with The Heat Shop receiving 4 out of 5 stars to Climatic’s 3.5 out of 5. Climatic’s score is still solid and competitive, especially when you consider that their online reviews rate them at a 4.7 out of 5 to The Heat Shop’s 4.8 out of 5; with just .1 of a difference in score. These small differences may relate to Climatic’s structure, with our team finding a follow up call speeding delivery of the quote along.
In terms of quotes, The Heat Shop will not offer initial numbers over the phone and prefer a digital method where they can provide a more accurate figure gleaned from pictures or floorplans. Climatic will give basic quotes via phone or email, but would rather have a through onsite assessment before giving a set quote. Both companies offer free onsite quotes. It should be noted, however, that only Climatic have weekend by appointment access while The Heat Shop are not available at all during this time. Neither team offer financing, with The Heat Shop preferring Daikin units and Climatic’s choice being Mitsubishi Electric. Climatic will also only install their brand of preference but can repair other units.
The Heat Shop were established in 1985 and are now an industry leader in Geelong, with over 30 years of experience. On top of being established over 15 years ago, Climatics’ team are backed by 25 years’ experience. Both companies offer premium expertise and knowledge, with Climatic focusing on Mitsubishi Electric installations, as they believe in the product. They are, however more flexible when it comes to repairs and can work on a wide range of units.
Both companies hold the ARA tick of approval giving them a licence to handle refrigerants and offer a 5 year warranty, with Climatic being an authorised warranty repairer in the Geelong area. Each team services a wide range of structures for commercial and residential clients, including apartments.
Despite Climatic being a smaller company who focus on the Geelong area, our review team found that they are a solid option for customers and compete very well in most areas when compared to The Heat Shop, who are rated Geelong’s value installation and repair company. Climatic’s commitment to installing only Mitsubishi Electric units may influence customer decision but they are a reasonably priced and reputable brand that the Climatic team stand by.
